A Beattie, Spaniel Gundog Training

​

Training is our family business, my Great Grandmother, my Grandmother who bred and trained Labrador retrievers​ alongside the horses, my father loved the Yorkshire terriers, for my mother, it was the working breeds, Shepherds in particular, and later English Springer Spaniels from my own breeding.. Mum still plays a role with the kennel club activities and judging.

I grew up in Warwickshire, spending much time in idyllic Bedfordshire and rural Buckinghamshire.

We started at the bottom back in those days, cleaning out the kennels and on feeding + grooming duties (Turvueren Shepherds) I spent a long time training with all breeds, gained high qualifications in Comparative Canine Cognition and Canine Behaviour, specialising in aggressive behaviours.

With the rise of the internet, then came a wave of self-declared trainers and schools of thought, (still battling things out between themselves to this day,) the industry was becoming flooded and embarrassingly poor quality.

I took my business and lifestyle back to where it had started - the hunt, the shoot-days, rural countryside sports and life... and the gundogs..

My passion is for the spaniels.

Are we Force Free?  As there really is no such thing, its an ideology that the less informed believe to be the only way to train, then no, we don't subscribe to sales jargon - our work speaks for itself.

What about Positive Training? I've never met a trainer that didn't use positive reinforcement ..its one of the four quadrants of learning,

A GOOD TRAINER WILL USE THE BEST TRAINING THAT FITS YOUR DOG - YOUR SITUATION & NOT LIMIT THEMSELVES AND WHAT YOUR DOG CAN BE BECAUSE OF THEIR IDEOLOGIES.

A good trainer will have a multitude of alternative ways to train anything, and the experience to work them confidently - of course, that comes with years of experience.
