Are we Force Free? As there really is no such thing, its an ideology that the less informed believe to be the only way to train, then no, we dont subscribe to sales jargon - our work speaks for itself.
What about Positive Training? I've never met a trainer that didnt use positive reinforcement ..its one of the four quadrants of learning,
A GOOD TRAINER WILL USE THE BEST TRAINING THAT FITS YOUR DOG - YOUR SITUATION & NOT LIMIT THEMSELVES AND WHAT YOUR DOG CAN BE BECAUSE OF THEIR IDEOLOGIES.
A good trainer will have a multitude of alternative ways to train anything, and the experience to work them confidently - of course, that comes with years of experience, not online certification in a fundamentalist or extremist groups own methods.
despite there being no recognised qualification in dog training or indeed to work in behaviour (anyone stating "qualified behaviourist" unless suppported by a Masters or Phd in the field, really is only a practitioner who took some online courses (set up by ex-trainers a decade ago-ask those of us who were around at the time) ..so look into what they were doing a few years ago ... you'll find many were working in a totally unrelated field.
This of course doesn't mean that they cannot help your dog, but be aware that if they read from the same text books, they only know what one another know and what the author put into writing.

What I'm not:
I'm not..
* An ex-dog walker - that people asked advice from because I can walk a dog - so started to train a few.
* An ex-nail tech /hairdresser beautician etc.
* An ex-educator
* An ex-anything that changed career and trained online without any real experience by an organisation that I watched being set up many years ago.. by my colleagues in the industry.
* Also, I'm not an ex-client that loved the experience so much that wanted to do that & so set up and became competition to the trainer that helped.
* Not an egotistical, self promoting 'better at the talk than the walk' type of trainer ..it's about the dogs, not me, or even so much you.
* Not great with social media ..we used the yellow pages before the industry exploded with novices.
* Not giving out advice in online groups.. still believe that advice is best given by experts in the experienced field ..not those looking to achieve 'expert status' for typing what someone else said. Good trainers are invested in your dog.
* An idiot who can't spot an 'Industry Information Seeker' ..
* Not great at flashy videos.. I sometimes record what went on in a session.. good bad and ugly.
* I'm not the trainer with untrained dogs at home .. my boy comes along ..you can see him you can see our relationship and watch him perform his various duties.
* Also very much, I'm not trying to offer a million different services and sports or disciplines in all things dog .. no classes learning generic stuff that doesn't suit .. just dedicated gundog training from 'sit-to-shoot' with tailored training in between.
* Not career climbing.
* Not stepping on anyone else's toes.
* Not making as much money as possible by cramming in as many dogs as possible.
* I'm also not in the habit of taking on every client that comes my way.. its atwo way thing.
So if you are looking for "all singing, all dancing, loud and obnoxious, as exciting as a squirrel" then I am also probably not the trainer for you.
I need to trust you as much as you and your dog needs to trust me.
